Plans change and that is completely normal. What matters is knowing your rights when cancelling or changing a flight ticket. This guide explains the current 2026 refund periods, fees and flexible fare options in plain language.

What is the 24-hour refund rule?

In Turkey some airlines grant a free refund within the first 24 hours after purchase. This rule varies by airline; always read the conditions on the booking screen. The 24-hour rule is also common on international routes.

How are cancellation fees calculated?

The cancellation fee depends on the fare: flexible fares allow free or low-cost cancellation; with standard fares the fee ranges from 20 to 100 % of the ticket price; promotional fares are usually non-refundable.

Change the date or cancel?

In most cases changing the date is cheaper than cancelling. For a change you pay the change fee (if any) plus the fare difference; with a cancellation you may lose the entire amount. We recommend checking the change option first.

Is a flexible fare worth it?

If your plans are likely to change, paying the flexible fare difference makes sense. Especially for business trips and uncertain appointments, a flexible fare prevents large losses later.

Your rights with delays and cancellations

If the airline cancels your flight or you face a long delay, you are entitled to a full refund or a free rebooking. EU regulation (EC 261/2004) may also provide compensation for departures from the EU; in that case contact the airline.
